I first joined Tinder in August 2014 after a few friends and work colleagues kept banging on about it. Why did I join? Honestly, curiosity. I wasn’t lonely or looking for love – I promise!
Apparently they had met these “really nice, good-looking guys” who were taking them to nice places on dates… I love food, especially when it’s free and a nice face to look at while I’m eating? #Winning, so why wouldn’t I join?
Me and my friends definitely have different taste in men. While there were a few good-looking guys, I spent 95% of my time swiping left (no bueno).
My Tinder story is short, in less than a year of on and off activity – more off than on, I matched with a whole bunch of weirdos, guys just looking for sex, a guy who sent me a picture of him in a mask with a hammer “to prove he was real” and a guy who wanted to take me on a date to Mc Donalds – he was dead ass serious too. I did end up going on 2 ‘dates’ and I met up with a 3rd person which you can read about here and here.
Guy 1 (If you read this, please don’t tell me!)
He was cute, not my usual type, but after being single for, well what seems like forever now, my ‘usual type’ obviously wasn’t working for me! We had quite a few close mutual friends, which to me meant he was probably someone I could get along with. The conversation wasn’t awkward and just flowed, so after talking on Tinder for a while we exchanged numbers, continued to talk on Whatsapp and eventually met up and went out. We had fun and are now friends. (I told you guys before, I wasn’t looking for love lol)
Again, not my usual type but was cute – in his Tinder pictures anyway! He was funny and we met up for dinner one day, after me previously cancelling on him a few times… *oops*. He was late, which to me is a hugeeee put off, joked around a little too much, to the point where I didn’t know when he was being serious or not and I also discovered why he always wears a hat! Needless to say, he was a one hit wonder and we no longer talk!
I think Tinder’s a good app to pass time as you get a little addicted to swiping but it really isn’t for me at all! For those who actually want to ‘date’ more than one guy and have quick hook ups, this app is definitely for you!
Don’t get me wrong, people have found love on Tinder apparently, but I’ll stick to my usual methods of meeting people… Not that that works for me either though LOL!
