So I’ve pretty much been M.I.A since I got here. It could be because nothing particularly interesting has happened – bar my trip to Madrid which I will document in another post, or because this was supposed to be an amazing 9 week adventure of teaching & self discovery and after only 2 weeks of teaching I’ve quit 1 job and handed in 1.5 weeks notice on my second.
So far this trip is not living up to the hype it was supposed to and it kind of had me feeling like a bit of a failure. I say had because I no longer feel like that.
Given the circumstances, I made the right decision & I’m much happier now that I don’t have to spend 4 hours a day doing something draining, surrounded by negative energy (teaching little terrors).
Anywhere that makes you so unhappy that you’re reduced to tears on more than one occasion in a short space of time – in my case 3 days in a row, is not somewhere that you should be. Disclaimer: 2/3 times were just a few tear drops due to frustration – respect my gangster!
I live by the saying “you always have a choice.” If you’re in a situation that you don’t like, you have the power to change it. It probably won’t be as easy as walking out of a job on the spot with no care in the world, but you can always work towards a change.
In my first blog post, I said my new years resolution was: “To be happy and do whatever it is that makes me happy” and I can honestly say that after 6 months of applying this to everything that I do, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made!
